Country Music

Now, I must admit that this song has a catchy tune and I liked it. Never really paid attention to the lyrics and probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been for a friend of mine and Paula's, enlightening us about what we were listening to as Christian women.

Take a few minutes to read the words to this song.

Baby likes to Rock it.

You know she likes to take me dancin' on the outskirts of town where the music's turned up and the lights are turned down

Shakin'-Shakin'-Shakin' on the dance-dance floorCrowd-crowd-screamin'-screamin'-more-more-more!She got the boogie woogie woogie spread all over the placeShe's got it stacked to the ceilin'-got it stickin' in your face

My baby likes to rock it like a boogie woogie choo choo train

Johnny's in the back room suckin' on his ginPolice are at the front door screamin' let me inGo-Go-Go-Go- dancer's busy showin' off her chestShe don't know what she's doin' but she tries to do her bestShe got the boogie woogie woogie spread all over the placeShe's got it stacked to the ceilin'-got it stickin' in your face

My baby likes to rock it like a boogie woogie choo choo train

Baby likes to rock itBaby likes to rock itBaby likes to rock it like a boogie woogie choo choo trainShe got the boogie woogie woogie spread all over the placeShe's got it stacked to the ceilin'-got it stickin' in your face

My baby likes to rock it like a boogie woogie choo choo train

She said her name was "Emergency" and asked to see my gunHer telephone number was 911Got Brother Jimmy on the TV- Killer on the stereoShe said if you want to get it...you got to let it goShe got the boogie woogie woogie spread all over the placeShe's got it stacked to the ceilin'-got it stickin' in your face

Right off the bat it has a description about a womans body sticking in your face. Then it goes on to tell you that Johnny is in the back room sucking on his gin. These two things right here are promoting sex and alcohol. Then the next verse talks about a girl saying her number is 911 and wants to see this dudes gun. Now, I know we are not dumb so we can all figure that one out.

This is the kind of music that our kids are listening too. Leading the kids to think that it is ok for them to have sex and drink. Well it isn't.

Our Bible tells us in Eph. 5:3

" But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covertousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints."

I Thess. 4:3

" For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication."

Our guide book has a lot of scriptures in it about fornication and the such. If God requires this of us, we should require that of our children as well. Our children were given to us, a gift from God, to raise up to serve the Lord and to follow his directions. We, as parents most of the time, don't pay attention to what our children watch and listen too. What is being put in their minds and corrupting them.

I challenge you to pay more attention to what your children are listening to and watching. It is becoming of the Lord? Is that what he would want us to let our children listen too?

Raise up your children unto the Lord and when they are old they will not depart from it. Prov. 22:6 (paraphrased)

Thank You Phyllis for sharing this one!

You know..we are drawn in by the beat.. while the message sinks into our brains..and then we wonder why we succomb to the temptation that we once assumed we were unable to be tempted to do.
What a good post!!

When I left Nashville I had every intention of returning. You see I had an Independent record label and two groups on the rise. I had spent many nights down on Broadway with the group of girls I represented and had hung out with many people who I will not mention but God had other plans. When I came under conviction I canceled my contracts and walked away from country music and the rest of the music scene. That August my band from Texas called and asked me to be a part of their new record deal. As I prayed about it the very things that you mentioned came pouring into my head. Even though I needed the money my reply was No. I could not disappoint my Savior by dragging His name from bar to bar, show to show, promoting the very things that He was against. THANK YOU for your blog and for standing up for your Saviors name.
